All Wheel Drive and 4 Wheel Drive vehicles all have a Transfer Case. This is the component that directs the power from the transmission and sends it to both the front and rear wheels. Every transfer case requires fluids to lubricate the bearings, gears and chains to ensure a long, low maintenance life. Some require very specific fluids, while others require standard Automatic Transmission Fluid. It is very important to check the fluid level on a regular basis to ensure constant lubrication and to remove heat. Also, the fluid should be changed on a regular interval to provide adequate protection. Any fluid leaking from the Transfer Case should be addressed promptly to reduce damage and cost of repair.
